    Tamron 150-600mm G1 vs. G2

I'm planning on renting a Tamron a little later in the year for an event. Rental agency only has the G1. Thoughts of the G1 in this case? Last event I rented the Nikon 200-500mm, which is fine, but I think a little shorter minimum focal length will help in some of the planned shooting locations...

    Carrying a 200-500mm or similar

Recent shoot I rented the Nikon 200-500mm for my D500. Nice lens; deciding if I would buy that one, or perhaps the Tamron 150-600mm (which I'll rent in the future). Anyway, my arm was pretty sore carrying that Nikon around most of the day. What is the best recommendation for transport? Next...

    Fast Cars

Hand held, too. The 70-300 Nikon VR lens (until I find a great deal on a more pro model, but nonetheless, having fun with this!) on my D500; the red F1 car from Manfrotto monopod.

    Don't Blink

Some of this year's Monterey CA races. Stationary aim, rapid fire as the car moved along.

Backing up Coolpix S6800 boot image?

I have this little pocket camera as a nice go-anywhere; it has come in handy when I want to carry something literally in my top pocket. Anyway, it was possible to take an image that was then set as the LCD boot image. It is a nice pic of a cat of mine that passed away over 2 years ago. I never...

Grip offer off the table for now

The D500 is no longer being offered with an included grip. I never understand how Nikon lists its price at $449 (with outlets such as B&H selling it for $369); never seemed remotely worth that kind of money, but I was happy to pull the trigger and get my D500 about a month ago with the grip...

    One More Bike

OK, although I have tons, I promise not to flood the site :) Just one more. I am very pleased with the D500; and await an even higher quality telephoto to play with.

    Bikes

First real weekend out with my D500. Still putting away some $$$ for a really nice 70-200mm lens. In the meantime.....(I debated about leaving the lower section on or not....)

One More New D500 shot to post

OK, so this weekend it is not a rental D500; I have my own now. I'm getting out and playing with it. Yes, it will be a while until a long, fast lens (such as the well recommended 70-200mm f/2.8) makes its way to me, so I am shooting with what is currently available. Absolute sharpness can likely...

    The Need for Speed

I'm curious your thoughts. While many of the race pictures target keeping the car sharp (with some wheel spin to accentuate motion), here instead of panning the car, I stayed stationary, burst fired, and let the car speed past the frame. It's the effect I was after. Just wondering what other...

    Bodie Ghost Town

Hi fellow Nikonites; I'm a new member, and as I get settled, thought I would post a pic from a trip to the CA ghost town of Bodie from a few years back. Your opinions are welcomed.

    Greetings from Santa Cruz CA

Just joined the Forums (already made a post in the D500 threads). Shooting currently with D90, considering upping to D500, and keeping D90 as a back-up Lots of scenics (from the desert to the sea to a chance at Hawaiian volcanoes...though not the current eruption), and presently doing a number...

New Member here! - Looking at D500

Hello, fellow Nikon users. I held an N90s for a number of years, and moved to the D90 to go digital. This was about 10 years ago, keeping my FX lenses from the N90s. The D90 has been fine, and I consider keeping it as a back-up body. I am currently eyeing the D500 (and will have one for rent...
