Incense sticks. The whole place stinks but it's thick smoke which reflects light well. The shapes are caused by turbulence and the heat difference from the light.
Now the last problem; getting rid of the noise. I think it can be solved by processing alone but I have to find the right approach.
I maxed out noise reduction, saved as a TIFF and started sharpening that one. The advantage is I start with a noise free shot and now need to add sharpness to the blur. If LR doesn't manage, there's always PS.
